Maa Balasundri, Tirlokpur Temple


Mata Balasundri Temple situated in Tirlokpur, 23 Km from Nahan, Distt Sirmour is one of the most famous Temples in Himachal. It is the center of devotion and faith for the people all over north India. The baby Goddess is believed to fulfill all the longings of the devotees and flourish them with happiness and prosperity.

As per the ancient history, it is believed that Maa Balasundri appeared in a bag of salt brought from Devbun in UP to Tirlokpur by a local trader. He kept selling salt from the bag but the content of the bag did not seem to exhaust. The trader was surprised by this miracle, later the Goddess herself appeared in his dream and told him that her Pindi Swaroop exists in the bag of salt, she further directed him to construct a temple and establish her in the form of Pindi and worship in the name of Maa Balasundri Devi Temple- the childhood state of Goddess Vaishno Devi.  As per the directions the trader along with the then ruler of Sirmour State, Raja Dip Prakash, built the temple in 1573 A.D. and established the divine power in the laps of Himachal Valley .To celebrate the heavenly presence of Maa two Navratra fare are conducted in her honor, though devotees from all over north India come to seek blessings of their beloved goddess all the year round. Ample accommodation facilities are available along with bhandara service to feed the devotees round the clock.
