Then there is the Naina devi temple near Chandigarh, Renukaji temple situated overlooking the Renuka lake, the ancient Bhimakali temple in Sarahan which is regarded as one of the fifty one sacred Shakti Peeths. Dharamsala is the home for the world famous Buddhist monastery which is the Dalai Lama monastery.
It is a renowned pilgrimage destination for the followers of Dalai Lama and Buddhism. Other significant monasteries include the Nako, Tabo, Dhanker monasteries which hold a special place for the Buddhist pilgrims. Himachal also is a home to several Gurudwaras, Paonta Sahib being really famous amongst the various others. It is situated nearby Dehradun. It connects to the religious sentiments of the Sikhs since it is believed that Guru Gobind Singh’s horse stopped here on its own and he decided to stay there.
The other attractions include Prashar lake, lying near Mandi enroute to the Kullu valley is home to the temple dedicated to sage Prashar who is believed to have meditated there. Then comes the Rewalsar lake which is a common pilgrimage point for the Hindus, the Buddhists and the Sikhs due to its collection of sacred temples, monasteries and Gurudwaras.
