Baba Balaknath Temple
of Gadkhal is one of the famous temples in Himachal. Gadkhal is a small place
which is located almost at a distance of 35 Km from the valley of Solan near to
Kasauli. From Kasauli it is just 5 Km and also a popular spot for picnic loving
people of Kasauli region. It is a hilly area with great scenic view and
specially visited by devotees to take blessings of Baba Balaknath. The temple
is located at the Hill top in Deot Sidh.
In case you are planning to pay
a visit to this temple, make sure to visit it on Sunday and especially during
the period of Navarathri. All wishes made by the devotees are fulfilled and
same is believed by all. On Sunday the priest of this temple sit on Gaddi to answer
the queries raised by the followers of Baba Balaknath. That day the
supernatural power of Babaji enter the soul of priest to give predictions
correctly.
More than 10000 couples who
were childless are blessed with child after paying visit to this temple. Babaji
was follower of Lord Shiva. The female devotees are not allowed to enter the
cave temple but can get a glimpse of the idol and can also offer Roti along with
Gur.
There is story about Babaji. He
met a very old woman in Changer Talai. In Dwapara Yuga he was in close
relationship with her and she acted as spiritual guide for him. To compensate
the responsibilities done by her, he decided to take the responsibility of taking
care of her cows. He settled down in Shah
Talai for next 12 years of his life and spends his life under a Banyan Tree
which later became popular in the name of Baba
Balaknath tree. He used to take care of the cows sitting under the tree and
doing yoga practice.
The temple of Baba Ji is one of
the popular holy shrines and one of the best Tourist Places in Himachal.
