Trekking in Shrikhand Mahadev

The trek of Shrikhand Mahadev is a wonderful pilgrim trail which leads to Shrikhand Mahadev peak which is located at a height of 5227 meters/17150 ft and named after the Lord of universe, Shiva. The main attraction of this trek is the exclusive view of the Himalayan ranges right from the valley of Parvati in Kullu, Hansbeshan, Jorkandan and Rangrik ranges. The trek can be completed starting either from Arsu side or even from the Nirmand side.

The popular route for this trek starts from Nirmand location in Jaon village side. In order to reach the base camp you need to take drive down from Shimla to Rampur and then by crossing the Sutlej River for entering Niramand region in Kullu district and then another drive up to Jaon Village. If you want you can complete this trek in a time span of about five to six days. Trekking in Himachal is an absolute dashing experience.

It is strongly believed that Lord Shiva used to mediate right here in Shrikhand Mahadev and during the period of Mahabharta the Pandavas used to pay a visit in this place. A small beautiful shrine of Lord Shiva is located at the top of this peak and devotees in large number visit this place to offer puja. During pilgrimage season tourist visit this destination in maximum and they prefer to visit this destination via trekking. The tourist visit is high during the period of July to August. The trekkers need to cross some small glaciers before they manage to reach the final destination of Shrikhand Mahadev.
